The last blog I wrote was about the nuts and bolts of setting up a contact management database..a real snorer.
I would like to talk today about Intellectual Property. All companies have trade secrets, how your widgets are made, the recipe that goes into your candy, the programing done to develop a piece of software.... Would you let someone walk away with those secrets after working for you for five years? Of course not!

Some Days....
Some days....you just do not feel like making another cold call. As with anything you do, some days you get tired of the task, am I the only one that goes through this..I do not think so!
So, when I have a day like that I have to find another task that relates to my job, that can interest me. I like research...poking around in the marketplace and seeing what kinds of new directions I can go with my message. Sometimes it works out very well and and when that happens, it adds to my education and adds to my perspective on the company.

Here is an interesting concept that was brought up at one of the company meeting's. What makes people respond to a email invitation, a call, a interactive campaign or any other kind of tool that companies use to generate new interest in a marketplace
The core to anyone's response is respect. Respect of intelligence, respect of the other person's time and the fact that we are all exposed to the same media asking us to spend money in one form of media or another, so your target audience is just as savvy as you think you are about these things.
So...what does she do in the corner all day?
Some of us are fascinated by Ones and Zeros and how they make computers do things, and then there are some of us who are intrigued by how Data makes the sales world go around. In the world of selling, nothing is more important than being able to tell a sales person, walking down a street, late for a meeting, the address or cell number of the person they are going to meet. If that information is not captured and linked in a relation data source, so that it can be quickly found....you have a disaster!
